Floating Art Project to Circle Manhattan

Be among the first to see the unique public art project, Floating Island to Travel Around Manhattan Island by Robert Smithson, which opens today. A man-made floating island, complete with trees and foliage, will be towed in circles around Manhattan by a tugboat. The project was conceived by the late artist Roberth Smithson and organized by the Whitney Museum and Minetta Brook.

Free Public Opening
Saturday, September 17, 5-7 pm
Hudson River Park, Pier 46 (Charles and West St.)
Viewing Schedule: 8 am - 8 pm daily, Sept. 17 - 25
Viewing Locations: Along the Hudson and East Rivers
