Monday October 17, 2005
Relax. You're safer than you think. A new FBI report ranks New York as the sixth safest state in the nation, up from #7 in last year's rankings. Crime reportedly dropped by 2.7 percent statewide this year, with violent crime down more than 5 percent. Overall, violent crime has declined by more than 50% in New York state in the past ten years. Lower crime rates in the city have had a major impact on the statewide statistics. Police statistics show crime is down almost 5% this year in New York City.
