$10 Haircuts in Manhattan?

You really can still get a good haircut for $10 in New York City. A reader recommends the Style and Smile Hair Salon in Chelsea for great, cheap men's haircuts at $10 a pop. Ask for Igor. They also offer women's haircuts for $16. No appointment necessary.

The prices have increased a little bit (womens cut with blow dry was $35)
But it is probably the best haircut Ive had in a long time. Marianne was so friendly and helpful – Im going to make it a point to get my hair cut here as often as I can.
If you want to look like a pre-pubescent Russian male hooker, I recommend this place. Marianne must have left or gotten a sex change because the only woman there was me, even though I walked out a small boy.
One of the best haircuts I have ever had. I have often paid top dollar and not come out this satisfied. Perhaps not for women but very good for men. Ask for Boris.

The place is filthy, they don’t shampoo your hair and the woman who cut my hair had absolutely no training.
She left the front of my hair with a 1″ difference from the left side to the right side. The cut was choppy and amateurish and I actually had to demand for her to even out my head…..after an extra five minutes of sculpting the right side is still a full inch longer than the left. And the left side was cut nearly to the scalp even though I asked for 2″ to be left.
I have NEVER had a haircut this horrible.
