Brooklyn Lobster
Friday November 4, 2005
Brooklyn Lobster, an independent film about a Sheepshead Bay lobster man and his family by New York filmmaker Kevin Jordan, opens today in New York City. The film is a family drama featuring powerhouse performances by Danny Aiello and Jane Curtin. The story is based on Jordan's own family -- his grandfather was known as "the lobster king of New York" and his family has run Jordan's Lobster Dock in Sheepshead Bay for many years.
Jordan attended NYU film school, where he caught the attention of Martin Scorcese, who has endorsed Brooklyn Lobster with his "Martin Scorcese Presents" seal of approval. The film was shot in less than five weeks on location in New York City and Long Island. Aiello and Curtin took major pay cuts to join the cast.
You can check out Brooklyn Lobster starting tonight at City Cinemas Village East on 2nd Ave. and 11th St. or at United Artists Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn.
