Shop Tax Free in New York Every Week
Wednesday April 5, 2006
Need an excuse for a shopping spree? As of April 1, New York's tax free shopping week has become permanent. New Yorkers will no loger pay any sales tax on clothing and shoe purchases under $110.
Back in September, New York City eliminated the city sales tax of 4% on these items. Now the state has eliminated state sales tax, effective April 1. That means a total savings of 8% on all clothes and footwear under $110. Might as well go out and pick up some cute sandals to celebrate.

free tax days isn’t for the whole state just NYC
“Now the state has eliminated state sales tax, effective April 1. That means a total savings of 8% on all clothes and footwear under $110″ Looks like it means the whole state of New York.
No, just NYC. It’s up to individual counties to suspend their portion of the sales tax. If they don’t, then you still pay 4% sales tax to the local government.
That’s correct. This is for NYC only. Sorry if that wasn’t clear.
does this tax-free stuff still apply?
