Halloween Weekend Picks
Friday October 27, 2006
Halloween Night is on a Tuesday this year. Luckily for those with school night curfews, the Halloween fun in New York starts this weekend with tons of activities for kids and grown-ups.
- Set Your Clocks Back For Daylight Savings Time -- First, don't forget to set your clocks back one hour at or before 2AM on Sunday, October 29, 2006. It's daylight savings time again. Remember, it's "spring ahead and fall back." That means we get an extra hour of sleep, but our days will get shorter.
- Procession of the Ghouls -- On Friday night, join the famous Procession of the Ghouls at the magnificent Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine.
- Haunted Houses -- Get the New York attitude scared right out of you at Blood Manor and Nightmare: Face Your Fears, two bloodcurdling houses of horrors. Or stop by the old Merchant's House in the Village for ghostly tales of the spirits rumored to walk the halls.
- Mystery Mansion at the Night Hotel -- Celebrate Halloween on Saturday night by hitting this party at one of New York's hottest clubs.
- Halloween in Central Park -- Enjoy fun Halloween activities in Central Park all weekend long. There's a family Halloween party, a costume parade and pumpkin sail, and Halloween fun at the Central Park Zoo.
- Halloweekend at Grand Central Terminal -- On Sunday, you can enjoy a day of Halloween fun at Grand Central Terminal. Pick and carve a pumpkin, take the kids for a trick-or-treat treasure hunt, and enjoy live performances and exhibits.
- Dog Halloween Parade in Tompkins Square Park -- Join your fellow dog lovers and their costumed canines at the nation's largest dog Halloween parade and party in Tompkins Square Park. Please note: The parade has been rescheduled from Saturday to Sunday due to the rain.
- National Comedy Theatre's Halloween Spooktacular -- For a funny rather than fearsome weekend, check out this Halloween-themed improv comedy show.
- Macabre Greenwich Village Walking Tour -- Learn about the ghosts of downtown Manhattan on this historically horrifying walking tour.
