Torre Walks
After twelve seasons as manager of the New York Yankees, Joe Torre is stepping down after rejecting a performance-based contract with a $2.5 million pay cut.
What do you think? Was the new contract offered to Torre fair? Is it time for new leadership? Responses to my previous post about the rumors that Torre would be fired were very supportive of Torre.
Commenter Mike Ricci wrote, "No other manager would do the job that Torre has these 12 years. Steinbrenner has to realize that his players are humans and not machines...Joe didn't let him down, the players did because they are human and humans do make mistakes."
Shirlane summed it up with a bit more color, "Joe Torre is a class act and the most loved, most revered manager in baseball history. George can jump in the lake."
