July 4th in New York City

Tuesday July 1, 2008
Macy's July 4th Fireworks This Friday is July 4th and many New Yorkers have already headed out of town for a long holiday weekend. Meanwhile, plenty of tourists are on their way into New York City to check out the famous Macy's July 4th fireworks.

If you're spending July 4th in Manhattan, we've got your guide to where to see the Macy's July 4th fireworks from on the island or across the river.

As part of the July 4th fireworks extravaganza, the River to River festival is a hosting a Sonic Youth/The Feelies concert in Battery Park on July 4th at 3:30PM. A limited number of tickets will still be available on the morning of the show. Tickets will be available two per person on a first-come, first served basis starting at 9:00AM in Battery Park directly across from the main entrance to Castle Clinton.

After the fireworks have faded, there will still be plenty to do in New York City during July 4th weekend:

Why does this say South Street Seaport now for the Sonic Youth/Feelies concert? Has this now moved from Battery Park? Where is this information coming from. You are confusing.

Yes, my brain was temporarily addled and I mistyped. The concert is in Battery Park and I made the correction to the post (and added a link to the details on the River to River Festival site). The River to River Festival fireworks event will be at the Seaport.
