Midsummer Night Swing
Wednesday July 16, 2008
I love Midsummer Night Swing because it always makes me feel like I've stumbled upon a Broadway musical number right on the streets of New York. You can burst into song and dance on the sidewalk and other people will actually join in. You can even take free dancing lessons to fine-tune your moves.
So put on your dancing shoes and boogie on over to Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park every night through July 26th (except on Sundays and Mondays, when you can rest your dancing feet). Tickets are $15.
What's on the Midsummer Night Swing schedule for the rest of this week?

What's on the Midsummer Night Swing schedule for the rest of this week?
- On Wednesday, it's brass band night. Join the Boban i Marko Markovic Orkestar and move your feet to the music that The New York Times has described as "almost brutal in its gleeful efficiency." If that description doesn't intrigue you, I don't know what will.
- On Thursday, it's time to tango with the Orquesta Tipica Imperial. Don't forget to bring a rose to clench suavely between your teeth.
- On Friday, get down at Jeannie Hopper's Liquid Sound Lounge featuring Afro-soul, funk, Afro-Latin electro, and garage house beats.
- On Saturday afternoon, round up the tiny dancers for Kid's Day! with Father Goose and enough reggae, dancehall, ska, and calypso moves to guarantee a long and quiet naptime.
- On Saturday night, grown-ups will enjoy getting close to Albita's passionate sounds of Cuban Son.
