Pinkberry vs. Red Mango

Thursday July 31, 2008
pinkberry frozen yogurt Which is the best frozen yogurt in New York City -- Pinkberry or Red Mango?

As I recently discovered, New Yorkers are very passionate when it comes to their frozen yogurt preference. So I did an unscientific survey and some hands-on research (which I predict will be ongoing) to determine the best NYC frozen yogurt to indulge in this summer.

And the winner is....Red Mango. For my money, Red Mango is just a little bit creamier and has a slightly better balance of sweet and tangy flavors.

What do you think? Are you a Pinkberry enthusiast who wants to set me straight? Do you prefer the joys of Tastee D-Lite or Mister Softee? Tell me about your favorite frozen treat and why you love it.

I agree with you – Red Mango is best!

Their products are healthier than the other companies and that reflects in both the taste and freshness. They aren’t icy and lemony like the other “froyo” stores. There’s just no comparison. The only thing is I wish they had more flavors of yogurt!

16 handles (2nd Ave. Between 9th and 10th St.) is the best. Not only do you get a selection of 16 flavors each day, but also you have to love the setup of buffet style toppings from chunks of fresh fruit to m&ms to fruity pebbles. I cringed slightly when I put my fro yo on their scale (it’s pay per pound) but was pleasantly surprised by the price.

16 handles is by far the best!

This whole FroYogurt is just another FAD…. it will all be over in few years, if not less… think about it, paying $5,6,7 for a froyogurt… just like people don’t want to pay lots of money for Starbuck’s Coffee anymore…. this is just another trend…..

I WAS a Pinkberry junky…having it at least once a week…but RED MANGO is better. There are a lot more Pinkberry’s around town, so that is the only reason i would go there…

Red Mango fruit taste ‘fresh’ and i love the chocolate chips…

Cynthia,
(this is not a personal attack)
The point isn’t whether it’s a fad or not, the point is simply that there is something “new” and delicious out there. ’sides, fads can be fun too sometimes. I had Red Mango back in Korea and seeing it here now just warms my heart.

Phil,

You’re an idiot. ;)

Red Mango takes the day!

red mango, hands down. superior taste and texture, best and freshest toppings, and the nicest counter staff. i go every day. i remember testing it against pinkberry, and the pinkberry is stiffer, doesn’t taste so great, and the toppings aren’t as good and are skimpy. there is no contest.

Pinkberry tastes better. Tarter, fresher, though sometimes inconsistent and way overpriced. Red Mango is heavy and tastes like rancid butter, just borderline awful. Red Mango wins on store atmosphere, Pinkberry is annoying as hell as a physical place and music-wise, but it’s not unbearable to eat/gag down. I’m a little worried though, I’d swear that lately Pinkberry’s texture is getting “creamier”, more like Red Mango..keeping up with the Joneses? Whatever, I still prefer it.
