Are You Ready for Some New York Giants Football?

Wednesday September 3, 2008
New York Giants Guest Post by Jason Feirman:

The New York Giants, our reigning Super Bowl champions, will take the field this week for the first time since the team's thrilling victory against the New England Patriots in February. Big Blue will once again have a chance to shine on national television, as they face off against the Washington Redskins at 7:00 PM on Thursday evening on NBC.

With all eyes on New York City, the NFL has planned a giant celebration in Columbus Circle featuring performances by Keith Urban, Usher, and Natasha Bedingfield. The event begins at 3:00 PM with a screening of the New York Giants edition of "America's Game," and the musical performances will run from 4:00 PM until kickoff. Did we mention it's completely free?

Afterwards, you can watch the game at a nearby watering hole like Mercury Bar (659 9th Avenue) or Hooters (211 West 56th Street).

Although nearly every bar in the city will be showing the game, we thought we'd let you know about a couple of specials that are not to be missed. At Town Tavern (134 West 3rd Street), they'll be raffling off autographed NFL merchandise. With current and former NFL players in attendance, who knows who you might be high-fiving when the Giants score? Thirty dollars gets you unlimited beer during the game.

If you're a Redskins fan (and there are plenty of them in the city), check out the rooftop tailgating party at Red Sky (47 East 29th Street). They'll be serving $3.00 beers, $10.00 pitchers, and $0.25 cent wings during the game. Ladies even drink for free during the 4th quarter. With an early kickoff, you'll have plenty of time to recover before you head into work on Friday.
