CMJ Music Marathon and Film Festival

The 28th Annual CMJ Music Marathon kicked off yesterday. More than 1,000 artists are scheduled to play at venues all over Manhattan and Brooklyn through Sunday night. The 2008 line-up will include Lykke Li, Broken Social Scene, Crystal Castles, Deerhoof, Beach House, David Banner, Gang Gang Dance, Chairlift, Jay Reatard, Lee "Scratch" Perry and hundreds of others. Panelists will include the legendary George Clinton and the amazing Juliana Hatfield.

The CMJ Film Festival, which will run concurrently at theaters around the city, also boasts an impressive line-up this year. On Thursday, see the NYC Premiere of Zach and Miri Make a Porno followed by a Q&A with director Kevin Smith. Other featured screenings include Johnny Cash At Folsom Prison with John Carter Cash, Spring Awakening, the thriller 100 Feet, and many more.
