New Year's Vice — Commit 7 Deadly Sins in 1 Day

By , About.com GuideJanuary 5, 2009

7 deadly sins Still trying to be a good little NYC boy or girl and stick to those wholesome New Year's resolutions? Maybe it's time to rebel against that clichéd New Year's resolution routine and resolve to be very, very bad in 2009. You can start this weekend by committing seven deadly sins before 9:00 PM on Saturday.

Here's the deal: A company called City Dusk is in the business of organizing cool theme nights out in New York. City Dusk founder Cal Zarin contacted me a few months ago and offered me the opportunity to help brainstorm ideas for cool itineraries that would appeal to NYC About.com readers. So I sat down with Cal and his awesome writer/cruise director John Keller. It was John's brilliant idea to build an evening around the 7 Deadly Sins. Here's how the evening of evildoing will commence:
  • SIN I: VANITY - Dress narcissistically, down a shot of Patrón, and grab your sin scorecards (you'll be tracking your moral shortcomings along the way to win valuable prizes).
  • SIN II: WRATH - Vent your fury at an hour-long fencing demo with Keeth Smart, one of NYC's own Olympic medal winners.
  • SIN III: GLUTTONY - Stuff your face with a Korean BBQ and sake feast in K-Town.
  • SIN IV: GREED and SIN V: ENVY - Let your avarice and petty covetousness run free on a private tour of the shiny and expensive cars at Cooper Classics LTD on Perry Street and a stroll by Julian Schnabel’s Palazzo Chuppi.
  • SIN VI: LUST - Get a little bit randy at The Pleasure Chest, where you can watch the professionals demo any toy that catches your eye (and discounts will be offered if you want to take some of the fun home).
  • SIN VII: SLOTH -End the evening with three hours of lazing about and drinking in a private room at Fat Cat on Christopher Street, where roaming masseurs and masseuses will help you relax into a sinful puddle. At the end of the evening, we'll review the scorecards will be reviewed and prizes awarded to whoever has committed the most sins.
So what do you say? If you feel like acting out this Saturday, City Dusk is offering Manhattan About.com readers a discount of $10 on the $70 ticket price (which includes food, drinks, and debauchery). Just contact Cal and mention About.com and he will hook you up with the discount.

This is not an advertisement and About.com doesn't make any money from this event. I just enjoyed collaborating with the City Dusk guys on developing a unique night out in Manhattan and would love to corrupt as many of you as possible this year. You can always resolve to work out more in 2010.
