Weekend Picks -- Art, Bondage, Bridesmaids, and Dr. Manhattan

Friday March 6, 2009
dr. manhattanThis weekend, art lovers will be flocking to the piers for the Armory Art Show. We've also got fun events for the bondage-curious, recovering bridesmaids, and Watchmen fans. Here are our top NYC event picks for the weekend of March 6-8, 2009:
  • The Armory Show and Armory Art Week -- The annual Armory Art Show is on through March 9, 2009 on Piers 92 and 94 (55th Street and the Hudson River). This weekend, you can also check out great Armory Art Week gallery events in Chelsea on Saturday and on the Lower East Side on Sunday.

  • BDSM for Vanilla Folks -- If you've always been too shy to explore your curiosity about handcuffs and whips, Friday may be your lucky day. The Museum of Sex is hosting a BDSM 101 seminar with sex-positive educator Clarisse Thorne.

  • Project Bridesmaids -- Unload some of those old bridesmaid dresses in your closet and you could win a trip to Barbados. Project Bridesmaids at the Hammerstein Ballroom on Saturday afternoon is a day of fashion shows, makeovers, discount shopping, and other fun stuff. Get in for free if you bring a bridesmaid dress to donate to nonprofit organization Planet Hope.

  • The Watchmen Opening Weekend -- Dr. Manhattan invades Manhattan this weekend. Be among the first to see the much-hyped flick starring Billy Crudup and Malin Akerman.
