Blooomberg Re-Elected

Mayor Michael Bloomberg defeated Bill Thompson last night to win a third term as Mayor of New York City.

Bloomberg is the first New York City Mayor to win a third term since Ed Koch in 1985.  At last tally, Bloomberg had spent almost $100 million on his third mayoral campaign.

In other election news, John Liu won the race for city comptroller and became the first Asian-American elected to citywide office. Bill de Blasio was elected as Public Advocate by a wide margin and Scott Stringer was easily  re-elected as Manhattan Borough President (his fellow Borough President incumbents in Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island were also re-elected).
