It's another action-packed June weekend in New York City. Remember that Sunday is Father's Day! So make plans to spend some quality time with dear old Dad at one of these great events.
- Summer Street Fairs -- See this weekend's street fairs, parades, block parties, and other street events all over Manhattan.
- Adventures NYC 2010 -- Come out for a day of adventurous fun in Central Park on Saturday. Participate in rock climbing, kayaking, yoga classes, dance workouts, live music, a cooking challenge with Top Chef's Carla Hall, and more. It's all free and activities will take place in the Bandshell area near the 72nd Street entrance.
- Bicycle Film Festival -- Celebrate your love for bicycles this weekend at the 10th annual Bicycle Film Festival and Saturday's BFF Street Party. Film selections include bike-inspired shorts and features from around the globe.
- Coney Island Mermaid Parade and Extravaganza -- The famous Coney Island Mermaid Parade and extravaganza is scheduled for Saturday. My About.com colleague Kristen Goode in Brooklyn has all of the details.
- Make Music New York Punk Island -- On Sunday, more than 130 of the country's loudest bands will transform the ordinarily quiet Governors Island into a daylong punk/hardcore paradise. Bands will perform on 17 stages scattered around the island, as free ferries transport revelers from Lower Manhattan and DUMBO to Governors Island every half hour, beginning at 10am. It's all free and part of the 2010 Make Music New York festival.
