Best of New York — Hair and Beauty

The battles for the 2012 About.com Manhattan Readers' Choice Awards are heating up.  The hair and beauty categories boast some particularly fierce competitors.

• Best Manhattan Hair Color -- Two big names in New York City hair color are battling it out for the title. The fans of Greg Ruggeri from Salon Ruggeri and James Corbett from James Corbett Studio are keeping the race very close, with Christopher John from Garren New York in third (with plenty of time to catch up before voting ends on March 21). Vote for the Best Manhattan Hair Colorist.

• Best Manhattan Salon for Black Hair-- This category also features a fierce race between two front runners.  LaVar took an early lead, but Wellington Hair Spa recently saw a jump in votes and has pulled ever-so-slightly ahead and into first place. The other two finalists, Shasha Lee and Ebony Styles, earned some early votes but are currently lagging behind the two leaders. Vote for Best Manhattan Salon for Black Hair.

• Best Manhattan Salon for Curly Hair --In our third Manhattan hair and beauty category, the race is still anyone's game. Famous curly salon Devachan is in first place, but the legendary Ouidad is a very respectable second and Arrojo and Christo Fifth Avenue are also on the board. Vote for Best Manhattan Salon for Black Hair.

You can vote in these and our other Readers' Choice categories (including Best NYC Food Truck, Best NYC Gym, and more) through March 21. The big winners will be announced on March 30.
