New York International Fringe Festival

FringeNYC 2008 Invades New York

By Pamela Skillings, About.com

The New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC) is the largest multi-arts festival in North America. From August 8th through 24th, the 2008 FringeNYC will feature more than 200 companies from around the world performing 1300 shows in 20+ venues all over New York City.

Fringe Festival History

FringeNYC was founded by off-off Broadway theater company The Present Company in 1996. Since then, the festival has launched Broadway and Off-Broadway successes like Urinetown (winner of 3 Tony Awards).

What to See at Fringe Festival

FringeNYC is a great way to see the work of exciting, up-and-coming performers and artists. Fringe NYC also features cool special programs -- like FringeJR and Fringe High for family and teen-friendly entertainment.
