Summer 2012 Schedule for Midsummer Night Swing at Lincoln Center


Summer's here and the time is right for dancing in the streets. Head to Lincoln Center for Midsummer Night Swin g— more than two weeks of fun, starting June 26, 2012, with the Big Band sound and the music of Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald, and culminating July 14. Other themes for his outdoor dance party include salsa, tango, soul, boogie woogie, Brazilian, zydeco and rock 'n' roll.

In 2012, New Yorkers will enjoy their 19th season of Midsummer Night Swing. There will also be very affordable street food inspired by the music of featured countries and cultures, compliments of Restaurant Associates.

Midsummer Night Swing events require tickets and take place on an elevated stage at Damrosch Park (62nd Street between Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues). Week One includes boogie woogie and cool jazz, capping the first month of summer on Saturday, June 30th, with Cuban charanga (salsa). Each evening begins with a dance lesson at 6:30 PM for dancers of all levels of experience. The live music begins at 7:30 PM and the dancing continues until 10 pm.

Tickets for individual evening events are still $17 (price includes dance lessons). You can also buy a six-night swing pass for $80 or a season pass for $160. If you want to stick to Latin or Swing, special four-night passes for each are just $60. This year, Dancing 101 classes are being offered on three consecutive Wednesdays in June at 7:00 p.m.beginning June 6 with DJs and instructors. Buy tickets online or call 212-721-6500.

Please note that any cancellations due to inclement weather will be announced at 8:30 pm on show night. In case of cancellation, ticketholders are entitled to exchange for another performance or get a refund. Remember that no bags, food, or drink are allowed on the dance floor. Leave your bags at home or check them in Damrosch Park.
