Score Tickets to Tribeca Film Festival Screening and Events

By , About.com Guide

Tribeca Film Festival
With more than 200 film screenings and dozens of other events, how do you decide what to see first? Check out our tips for planning your 2011 Tribeca Film Festival experience, buying tickets, and getting great seats.

Planning Your Tribeca Film Festival Experience

  • Visit the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival online program guide to search for films and events by title, genre, location, and other categories. As you browse, keep in mind that it's always a good idea to have some backup choices in case your top picks aren't available or are playing at conflicting times.

  • If you're not sure where to begin, the printed Tribeca Film Festival program guide can be an indispensable (and portable) resource for navigating the festival. The program guide can be picked up at the festival (more information will be provided about the 2012 printed festival guide when available).

Buying Tickets for the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival

Once you find the films and events that interest you, it's a good idea to order tickets early. Many films sell out of advance tickets quickly.

How Much Are Tribeca Film Festival Tickets?

  • General admission tickets for evening and weekend screenings are $16.

  • Tickets for daytime weekday and late night screenings are $8.

  • Tickets for Tribeca Talks events are $25.

  • Service and delivery fees: $3.50 per ticket for online orders, $3.50 per ticket or $5 per order for phone orders, $3 for print-at-home tickets, $3 for will call
2012 Tribeca Film Festival ticket packages go on sale to American Express cardholders on March 5, 2012 and to the general public on March 12, 2012. Options range from the $250 Harrison Ticket Package, which offers early ticket selection and access to 10 individual screenings, to the $1,200 Hudson Pass, which gets you into just about everything, including gala premieres and parties.

If you're on a budget, you might prefer one of the discounted ticket packages -- starting at $39 for matinee and late-night ticket packages. These discount packages are available online or by phone only and go on sale on April 10 to American Express cardmembers and on April 16 for the general public. Single tickets for 2012 Tribeca Film Festival screenings go on sale to American Express cardmembers on April 10, to downtown Manhattan residents on April 15 (walk-up box offices only and you will need proof of a zip code below Canal Street), and to the general public on April 16.

Where Can I Buy Tribeca Film Festival Tickets?

  • You can order your screening and event tickets online and avoid the lines.

  • You can also purchase tickets in person at walk-up Tribeca Film Festival ticket outlets at Tribeca Cinemas (54 Varick Street at Laight Street), Chelsea Clearview Cinemas (260 West 23rd Street between 7th and 8th Avenues), AMC Village VII (66 3rd Avenue at 11th Street), and at select event venues.

  • For the first time this year, you can also buy tickets and reserve seats for your friends via the Tribeca Film Festival Facebook page.

  • If you can't get tickets in advance, you might still be able to get in by arriving early and getting on the Door Sales line. Starting 15 minutes prior to a film or panel's scheduled start time, those in the "Door Sales" line will be admitted until the theater is at capacity (cash and American Express only for Door Sales tickets).

How Do I Get Good Seats?

Avoid long lines at the theater Will Call desks by ordering your tickets online before the festival and printing them at home or picking them up in advance at a festival box office.

If you order tickets during the Festival, you must pick them up at the Will Call desk at the venue of your screening/panel. The Will Call desk at each venue opens 30 minutes prior to the first screening of the day.

In either case, remember to arrive early. To guarantee admittance, even with tickets, you must be present at the screening venue 30 minutes prior to the scheduled screening time.
