Union Square Greenmarket

Get Fresh Produce and Baked Goods at the Farmer's Market in Union Square Park

From Lauren M. Krauze, for About.com

Skip Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods and wander over to the Union Square Greenmarket for the freshest produce in town and home-baked goodies straight from the farm.

Peruse the tents and stock up on a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, potted plants and fresh flowers, and baked-from-scratch desserts, pies, and cookies.

The vendors are friendly and local -- many bring their products directly from farms and fields in the tri-state area. Get there early for the best selection.

  • Location: Northwest side of Union Square, where East 17th Street meets Broadway

  • Get there: Take the 4/5/6/L/N/Q/R to 14th Street/Union Square or the F/V to 14th Street and 6th Avenue.

  • Days and times: Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays/Saturdays 8AM-6PM
