Celebrate Earth Day in New York City
Celebrate the 42nd anniversary of Earth Day in New York City in 2012. Learn how to protect the planet and embrace a greener city at these great events featuring music, fun, and activism in the great outdoors.
  • Earth Day at Grand Central Terminal
    Organized by the nonprofit organization Earth Day New York, the annual New York City EarthFair will be held inside Grand Central Terminal in Vanderbilt Hall from April 19-21, 2012 and outside of Grand Central Terminal on April 20 and 21, 2012.


  • Earth Day in Times Square
    Attend a public Earth Day celebration in Times Square featuring entertainment, speakers, and an interactive exhibit area highlighting green businesses, non-profits, and our sponsors.


  • Green Festival at Jacob Javits Center
    The Jacob Javits Center is hosting New York City's first Green Festival over Earth Day weekend. The festival will showcase green gadgets; sustainability career opportunities; organic beer, wine and food; natural beauty products; and an action packed Green Kids Zone. Speakers will include Russell Simmons, former Obama staffer Van Jones, and many others. If you travel to the festival by bike, you can park with the bike valet and get free admission. Children under 18, adults over 65, union members, Green America, Sierra Club and Global Exchange members will also receive free admission.


  • Earth Day Celebration on the High Line
    Enjoy a full day of Earth Day fun on the High Line on April 22, 2012. Enjoy performances (including the tossing of a giant salad and kid-friendly music by the On the Lam Brass Band), interactive demonstrations by the High Line gardeners, and craft workshops.


  • Million Trees NYC Spring Planting Day
    On Saturday, April 27, join more than a thousand community volunteers and the NYC Parks Department in planting 20,000 trees in a single day at 16 park sites across the city’s five boroughs.
