By , About.com Guide

NYC National Puerto Rican Day Parade
Crowds in excess of two million are expected to line Fifth Avenue on Sunday, June 12th for the 2011 Puerto Rican Day Parade.

The parade will start at 11 am at Fifth Avenue and 44th Street and proceed uptown along Fifth Avenue to 79th Street (that's 7 blocks short of the usual final destination).

The 2011 Puerto Rican Day Parade celebrates the natural beauty of Puerto Rico and promotes the preservation of natural resources and the environment. Honorees will include actor John Leguizamo, folk singer Antonio Cabán Vale "El Topo," Baseball Hall of Famer Roberto Alomar, and more.

Join New York's proud Puerto Rican community for music, food, dance, and marching politicians and celebrities.

There are also a number of other New York events to celebrate Puerto Rican culture this June -- including street festivals, a domino tournament, a photo exhibit, parties, and more.

For more information about the parade or other events, visit The National Puerto Rican Day Parade web site or call (718) 401-0404.
