All programs and events are free to the public and take place outdoors in Hudson River Park. Some of the highlights of 2009 Summer on the Hudson include:
- Movies Under the Stars-- Enjoy movies under the stars in Hudson Park on both Wednesday and Friday nights. On Wednesday nights, RiverFlicks for Grown-Ups will feature screenings of 2008 summer blockbusters including Iron Man and Sex and the City: The Movie. On Friday nights, RiverFlicks for Kids will feature screenings of family-friendly films including The Wizard of Oz and Curious George.
- Shakespeare at The Hudson Warehouse -- The Hudson Warehouse presents "The Other Free Shakespeare in the Park" at the North Patio of the Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument in Riverside Park. Performances are at 6:30 PM from Thursday through Sunday throughout June, July and August. Enjoy The Tempest in June, Hamlet in July, and A Midsummer Night's' Dream in August.
- Moondance -- On Sundays in July and August, strut your stuff to live bands on Pier 54. Free dance lessons begin at 6:30 pm and the dance parties start at 7 pm.
- River Rocks -- Attend free concerts on Pier 54 in July and August. Performers include Matt & Kim, Ted Leo & the Pharmacists, and Yeasayer.
- Rumble on the River -- See New York City's best amateur boxers face off on Pier 84 on July 30th.
- Blues BBQ -- Hear live blues music and sample food from New York's finest BBQ restaurants on August 23rd on Pier 54.
