GMAD (Gay Men of African Descent) works to improve quality of life within the New York City black gay community by effectively fighting the triple threat of AIDS, homophobia and racism through education, advocacy, health and wellness and social support.
Founded by the Reverend Charles Angel in 1986, GMAD has striven ever since to create parity within New York City's diverse black gay community. The group provides targeted services such as a drop-in center for seniors, street outreach, HIV testing, and health and wellness counseling.
