New York Transit Museum Nostalgia Train

Take a Ride on Vintage Subway Cars Dating Back to 1924

By , About.com Guide

Join me for a subway ride back in time on the New York Transit Museum Nostalgia Train. Every year, the New York Transit Museum organizes a few rides aboard the vintage "Train of Many Colors."

Each ride features a collection of vintage subway cars from different eras in New York City history. This gallery includes photos of subway cars from 1917 through 1976.

My favorite part of the ride was admiring the vintage subway ads that asked me to vote for Dewey, vote for Miss Subways, observe Meatless days, avoid littering, chew Juicy Fruit, see Barbarella, and drink Rheingold beer. Continue to the last page of the photo gallery to see all of the vintage subway ads.
