The front-runners for the office of Manhattan Borough President include:

Brian Ellner
Brian Ellner is an attorney and the former president of Manhattan's District 2 school board. Ellner worked as a special advisor for the public advocate's office and for Mark Green's 2001 campaign for mayor. He is currently on the board of directors at the Hetrick-Martin Institute. Ellner recently produced the first televised campaign commercial in New York City history in which an openly gay politician appears with his partner.

Adriano Espaillat
Adriano Espaillat has represented the 72and Assembly District since 1996. He was recently appointed by New York State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver to serve on the New York State Task Force on New Americans. Espaillat has been endorsed by El Diario and the Rev. Al Sharpton.

Eva Moskowitz
Eva Moskowitz has served on the city council since 1999. Previously, Ms. Moskowitz was the director of public affairs at Prep for Prep, an educational program for gifted minority student. She has taught American history at Vanderbilt University, the University of Virginia and the City University of New York.

Scott Stringer
Scott Stringer is a six-term member of the New York State Assembly, representing Manhattan's Upper West Side and Clinton neighborhoods. He previously served as chief of staff to then-Assemblyman Jerry Nadler for eight years. Stringer has been endorsed for Manhattan Borough President by The New York Times.
