Anthony Weiner has served in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1999, representing the 9th Congressional District in Brooklyn and Queens.

Platform:

One of Weiner's key issues is increasing funding for law enforcement and homeland security. After September 11th, Weiner was the only New Yorker appointed to serve on the Homeland Security Task Force. He has criticized Mayor Bloomberg for supporting the Republican party during the 2004 elections.

Background and Qualifications:

Anthony Weiner was born and raised in Brooklyn and currently lives in Queens. He got his start in politics as an aide to then-Congressman Chuck Schumer and served in the New York City Council before being elected to the House of Representatives in 1999.
