  • NYC Parks & Recreation's Winter Jam -- Spend the day playing in the snow in East River Park on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Winter Jam. This annual event will feature a 70-foot Snow Flume for sledding, a professional snowboarding competition on a 90-foot tall Snowscraper structure, a winter snowfield with snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, a snowman making contest, a Warming Hut with free samples from NY State farmers and producers, performances from the high flying Skyriders, live music, and more. Winter Jam '09 is FREE, and all winter sports equipment will be provided, including tubes for sledding, snow shoes, and cross-country skis.


  • Polar Weekend -- It's New York City International Polar Weekend at the American Museum of Natural History. The weekend program will feature events and activities for all ages including performances, lectures, film clips, and an interactive Polar Fair with scientists, explorers, artists, and performers from around the world. All programs are free with museum admission.


  • New York Fashion Week -- Top fashion designers will show their Fall 2009 collections in the tents Bryant Park during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week from February 13-20, 2009.


  • MOMA Doc Month -- The Museum of Modern Art will showcase the best of contemporary and classic nonfiction films this February during Doc Month. At the centerpiece is the Museum’s eighth annual international festival of nonfiction film, Documentary Fortnight (February 11–25), a juried festival of more than 50 contemporary films from around the globe that explore a wide range of topics.


  • Valentine's Day in New York City -- Enjoy an evening of candlelight, romance, and pretty pink ribbons. Or defy the Hallmark overlords and celebrate Valentine's Day single-style.


  • 2-for-1 Off-Broadway Ticket Deal -- Buy one Off-Broadway ticket and get a second for free during a special promotion from February 15-March 1, 2009.


  • Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show -- See the nation's finest dogs strut their stuff at the annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.


  • Sizzling South America -- City Dusk is offering a fabulous night of South American fun on Friday, February 20th. Join your expert tour guide for a South American art exhibit and lecture, complete with a South American wine tasting. Then move on to a Chelsea bar Triangulo for an Argentine tango lesson and a Brazilian bartending lesson (drink what you mix, along with some South American snacks). The whole evening will cost you $50.


  • New York Wine Expo -- Sample more than 600 wines from 100+ winemakers from around the globe at the Javits Center during the weekend of February 27-28, 2009 (remember to pace yourself!). Famous chefs and wine experts will also be on hand to share their expertise and Friday admission is $75 per person and Saturday admission is $85 (book online before February 20th and save $10).
