- GET SOME Wine and Spirit Tastings at Bottlerocket -- Every Thursday evening in August, my favorite wine store in New York (Bottlerocket, of course) is hosting a free singles tasting event. Drop by to mingle and sample wines, spirits, and specialty cocktails. Event co-sponsor Urban Signals will provide a date finder iPhone/Blackberry app to help you break the ice with the cutie by the Chardonnay. Bottlerocket also hosts free tastings on Friday and Saturday evenings (6-8 pm).
- Central Park Film Festival -- Celebrate movie making in Central Park during this film festival running August 24-28, 2010. The theme for 2010 is "Iconic New York" and film selections will include Fame, Saturday Night Fever, and King Kong. Saturday night is Viewer's Choice -- vote for Woody Allen's Manhattan or John Cusack in Serendipity (how is this even a choice?).
